Conception

Inspired by the “Drink Me” bottle episode from Alice in Wonderland, this work reinterprets the theme of transformation as a metaphor for self-perception.
The figure of Alice, enclosed within the bottle, represents the constant tension between who we are and who we believe we should be. In the original story, becoming smaller is a necessary condition for crossing a threshold and entering a new world. Here, however, shrinking takes on a different meaning: the often unconscious desire to conform to expectations—our own or those of others.
The search for an ideal size thus becomes a form of self-containment, a continual attempt to occupy the “right” amount of space in order to be accepted.
The bottle becomes a symbol of this tension: a space that both protects and confines, where transformation takes on the meaning of constant adaptation. No longer a passage into a new world, it becomes the search for a dimension that allows us to feel worthy of expectations—our own or those imposed by others.
But what does it mean to be “enough”? And who gets to define that measure?
